David B Cooper is the author of numerous books and research papers on home detox (community detox). He was the recipent of the NCA Outstanding Contribution to Nursing Award in 2003.
David has been involved in the substance use field for the past 28 years. During that time he has developed, researched, educated and managed home detoxification projects both in the UK and elsewhere. His background was in nursing where he worked as a practitioner and manager within and outside the NHS. More recently he has acted as a consultant.
David has edited two international journals (Journal of Substance Use: an international journal, and the Drug and Alcohol Professional), authored two books and written many chapters and papers. He has served on the Medical Council on Alcohol Executive for education and prevention; as Chair of the Nursing Council on Alcohol UK for three years; as observer for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Alcohol - amongst others.
