During the detox, the nurse living in the home with the client for the duration of the treatment, will administer all medications to ease the withdrawal syndrome as safely and comfortably as possible. The client is supported continuously during the process by the clinical nurse specialist, the consultant psychiatrist, and by a care co-cordinator. The care co-cordinator supervises the relationship between the client and the care givers.
Whilst detoxing, clients are encouraged to attend 12 step fellowship meetings. However, our approach is eclectic. We do not endorse any one philosophy.
Clients are encouraged to practice yoga and engage in other physical activity as a way of channeling their energy into recovery. We also emphasise diet and nutrition. A holistic, individualised programme is devised for the client that incorporates these other aspects of therapy.
